The time-reversal (TR) techniques have been studied and developed for solutions of inverse problems in acoustics and various other areas that requires no involvements and computations of Green’s functions. In electromagnetics, the time-reversal techniques have attracted much attention and have found applications in remote sensing, imaging and wireless communications. In this talk, I will present recent developments in theorizing the time reversal method with digital signal processing techniques in both time- and frequency-domains. I will introduce an theorem and describe an optimization technique to avoid false solutions with the theorem. I will then show the time-reversal applications to faulty array-element diagnosis, radiation reconstructions and possible RF/microwave structure synthesis. They open potentially new paradigms in designs of electromagnetic circuit structures in RF/microwave systems and in locations of radiations sources in EMC and EMI.
报告人简介:

Zhizhang (David) Chen received the Master degree in Radio Engineering from Southeast University, P. R. China, the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa, Canada. He was a NSERC post-doctoral fellow with McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He is currently a professor with Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, where he has also served as the Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has been an adjunct or visiting professor with the University of Nottingham of UK, Beihang University, Fuzhou University, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He has authored and co-authored over 380 journal and conference papers and has been an associate editor of the recently founded IEEE Journal on Multiscale and Multiphysics Computational Techniques. His current research interests are in time-domain electromagnetic modelling techniques, ultra-wideband wireless communication systems and wireless power transfer. He is the Fellow of the IEEE, the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Engineering Institute of Canada.
